lucius
How is Wake-on-LAN supposed to work? The 8.0 client is running on an iMac that is running Leopard, and which is connected to the network via 802.11n. The iMac's firewall is set to "Allow only essential services" In the 8.0 console, the iMac client is a source, with "Enable Wake-on-LAN" checked. The symptom is that the client doesn't wake up. Do I need to set the client's firewall to allow all incoming connections to the Retrospect Client? Or do I need to do something else so that the console can wake up the client? Mayoff
What version of the client is installed? What happens if you open the firewall? What happens with a wired connection?
CallMeDave
I haven't played with it yet, but I'd guess that you need to enable "Wake for Ethernet network administrator access" in the Options tab of the Energy Saver pane in System Preferences. Mayoff
yes, I think Dave is right. Has that been configured?

Yes, that's enabled. I'll play with the firewall settings, and see if that makes a difference. But, EMC should be able to enumerate the necessary firewall settings. E.g., what firewall settings were found to work in their testing.
Spaced
'Wake for Ethernet network administrator access' only works over wired connections. See: http://support.apple.com/kb/TA22272?viewlocale=en_US

Missed this in his original post! [color:red]Spaced[/color] nails it; it's a hardware limitation, nothing to do with Retrospect. Guess I'll schedule the iMac to wake up one minute before the backup starts.
