Retrospect crashes backing up internal volume

Recommended Posts

Hi

I use Retrospect 8 (release version, Desktop) on a Mac Mini (10.5.x). The beta was not previously installed on this machine (I used Retrospect 6.1 on a different machine up till now). I have two external FireWire drives connected, on as a backup source, and another, that is used for the MediaSet (type disk, simplecrypt, grooming, setting: remember password for any access).

I set Retrospect to backup some of the folders (/Library and /Users) from the internal / boot drive and some of the one FireWire drive. Retrospect always crashed almost immediately after starting the backup script. I could get it back up even one file, until I figured out, that it's crashing, when backing up the folders from the internal / boot drive. Backing up the external FW drive works fine (except that the label rules are ignored).

Isn't it a bit strange, that internal drives cause crashing. Anyone else observed this behaviour?

Cheers
