kipouros
Hi I use Retrospect 8 (release version, Desktop) on a Mac Mini (10.5.x). The beta was not previously installed on this machine (I used Retrospect 6.1 on a different machine up till now). I have two external FireWire drives connected, on as a backup source, and another, that is used for the MediaSet (type disk, simplecrypt, grooming, setting: remember password for any access). I set Retrospect to backup some of the folders (/Library and /Users) from the internal / boot drive and some of the one FireWire drive. Retrospect always crashed almost immediately after starting the backup script. I could get it back up even one file, until I figured out, that it's crashing, when backing up the folders from the internal / boot drive. Backing up the external FW drive works fine (except that the label rules are ignored). Isn't it a bit strange, that internal drives cause crashing. Anyone else observed this behaviour? Mayoff
Can you post any updates to the assert_log.utx or OS X console log for the crash?
kipouros
strangely enough, after I got Retrospect to backup only the external drive, now I tried to backup the internal drive again, and it works... spooky )) since I don't seem to be able to attach files, I uploaded the assert_log.utx file to senduit.com for download (link is valid 1 week) http://senduit.com/f18c4e cheers

kipouros
Hi Thanks for attaching the file. My observation, that backups of the internal volume work, is not entirely true. Is ran the backup script again. Retrospect manages to backup the /Users folder. But it still crashes when backing up the /Library folder.
