moving backup folder to external HD

i currently have my backup on a HD inside my computer, and i wanted to know how can i move the contents of that backup to my external HD and make retrospect know where i moved it so when it looks for the files it will look into my external and no longer in my internal HD? And also, since i will be moving my contents over how do i start a new backup set on the old HD that's empty now??

im a newbie to retrospect so please have mercy ;)

Copy the entire backup folder to the external disk and then delete the original folder.

You will probably need to delete the .rbc file so that Retrospect can rebuild it when the backup is detected on the new drive. Make sure you do not change any folder structures and move the entire backup folder to the root of the new disk.
