Jatta Pake
My XP computer hard drive failed but I have everything backed up to a Western Digital MyBook using Retrospect Express HD. I installed a new drive and XP with service packs per the documentation. Installed Mionet and Retrospect. I can pull up the restore points from my failed drive but when I attempt to restore, I get an error. The system gives me an error message with time stamps during the "Preparing to Restore" phase. Nothing progresses on the status bar. The message only says "Execution incomplete" with a bunch of time/date stamps. After clicking "OK" it kicks me back to the main menu. What do I do? My computer has been down for three weeks. Help!
Mayoff
What are the exact errors reported? What is your exact version of express HD?
Jatta Pake
Version is 2.0.146 The exact text of the error message is: "Restore did not finish successfully Errors occured restoring your files. Ececuting DirectRestore at 10/1/2008 12:43 PM To volume Restore 8 on Local Disk (C:)... -10/1/2008 12:43PM: Restoring from DAN-MAIN, Snapshot Local Disk (C:), 9/8/2008 9:01:13 AM 10/1/2008 12:43:44 PM: Execution incomplete Remaining: 170 files, 200.1 MB Completed: 0 files, zero KB Performance: 0.0 MB/minute Duration: 00:00:00" The DAN-MAIN is my previous computer. My new PC has plenty of free space for the files I'm trying to restore. I've also disabled my antivirus software and all firewalls. Can't figure out why the files won't restore. Mayoff
Are you trying to restore back to the original location or to a new folder. Try doing the restore to a new folder on the disk, does it work? Are you doing a full system restore? The current version is 2.5 and it may work better for you. Jatta Pake
Restore 8 is the new folder on the new computer. Not a full system restore, only grabbing the files I need. I will upgrade to 2.5 and see if that works.
