ldamario
I am using Retrospect Express 5.0 for OS X with my CD drive as the backup device. I have been encountering the same error repeatedly. The backup stops because Retrospect "lost contact with media". When this happens, Retrospect freezes, and I can't quit the application (except with a Forced Quit) or eject the CD. If I do a Forced Quit, I still can't eject the disk, and if I restart Retrospect, it does not recognize the CD drive. I have to shut down the computer before I can eject the disk. Any suggestions would be welcome. I have considered switching to an external FireWire drive as the backup device. Would this help? Needless to say, I have not been impressed with the reliability of Retrospect Express 5.0.
lv2ski
Maybe you have a loose cable or connection? Hard to say, since it's just losing connection in the middle. Try a new cable, or try the drive on another machine.
