SBS_indy
Hi there. I've been having a bit of a problem accessing the 'Restore' function in Retrospect Express HD and was hoping someone could help me out. I have a WD MyBook (1 TB) that is hooked up through the network. I am running Reprospect Express HD v2.0.146. EDIT - Running Windows XP Pro SP2. Recently I was obliged to restore a few files from backups about a week old. This went fine. However, now that I have to do so again (different files this time) Retrospect won't launch the Restore dialog. I get an error message stating "Retrospect Express needs to perform a maintence operation before it can show the restore points." I have twice tried deleting the RBC file and allowing it to run backup maintence, and have also tried deleting and reinstalling the Retrospect software, as well as rebooting both the external HD and my computer. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Edited July 17, 2008 by Guest
Mayoff
It could be removing old restore points. What happens if you let it finish the maintenance?
SBS_indy
The maintenance will finish normally, slowly counting up how many restore points I have. It will get to the correct number and finish just fine. However, when I then try to click 'Restore', I get the same error message again. Mayoff
You are running an older version. Try express HD 2.0.214.
SBS_indy
I've upgraded and am running maintenance again. I'll let you know how it turns out.
SBS_indy
Tried it again with .214, and I'm still getting the same message. It ran backup maintenance just fine, but won't let me access my restore points. Any ideas?
Mayoff
I think the next step is to download the Retrospect 7.6 trial from our website, do a catalog rebuild and a restore. It will do a much better job in this situation. Worst case, it can generate some detailed errors we can use to troubleshoot the failure. SBS_indy
7.6 opened it right up, no need to do a catalog rebuild at all. Thanks for the help!
