oxbow
Im trying to use Restrospect 6.1.126 on a OSX server 10.4.11 with 8 GB ram and a LSI Logic apple branded SCSI-card with a HP LTO3 . Im getting all kinds of wierd error in the log and Retrospect crashes. Retrospect(5648,0xa000eca0) malloc: *** vm_allocate(size=2348814336) failed (error code=3) Retrospect(5648,0xa000eca0) malloc: *** error: can't allocate region Retrospect(5648,0xa000eca0) malloc: *** set a breakpoint in szone_error to debug Retrospect(5648,0xa000eca0) malloc: *** vm_allocate(size=2348814336) failed (error code=3) Retrospect(5648,0xa000eca0) malloc: *** error: can't allocate region Retrospect(5648,0xa000eca0) malloc: *** set a breakpoint in szone_error to debug Retrospect(5648,0xa000eca0) malloc: *** vm_allocate(size=2348814336) failed (error code=3) Retrospect(5648,0xa000eca0) malloc: *** error: can't allocate region Retrospect(5648,0xa000eca0) malloc: *** set a breakpoint in szone_error to debug Retrospect(5648,0xa000eca0) malloc: *** vm_allocate(size=2348814336) failed (error code=3) Retrospect(5648,0xa000eca0) malloc: *** error: can't allocate region Retrospect(5648,0xa000eca0) malloc: *** set a breakpoint in szone_error to debug Retrospect(5648,0xa000eca0) malloc: *** vm_allocate(size=2348814336) failed (error code=3) Retrospect(5648,0xa000eca0) malloc: *** error: can't allocate region Retrospect(5648,0xa000eca0) malloc: *** set a breakpoint in szone_error to debug Retrospect(5648,0xa000eca0) malloc: *** vm_allocate(size=2348814336) failed (error code=3) Retrospect(5648,0xa000eca0) malloc: *** error: can't allocate region Retrospect(5648,0xa000eca0) malloc: *** set a breakpoint in szone_error to debug Retrospect(5648,0xa000eca0) malloc: *** vm_allocate(size=2348814336) failed (error code=3) Retrospect(5648,0xa000eca0) malloc: *** error: can't allocate region Retrospect(5648,0xa000eca0) malloc: *** set a breakpoint in szone_error to debug Retrospect(5648,0xa000eca0) malloc: *** vm_allocate(size=3422687232) failed (error code=3) Retrospect(5648,0xa000eca0) malloc: *** error: can't allocate region Retrospect(5648,0xa000eca0) malloc: *** set a breakpoint in szone_error to debug Retrospect(5648,0xa000eca0) malloc: *** error for object 0x39a3f0: incorrect checksum for freed object - object was probably modified after being freed, break at szone_error to debug Retrospect(5648,0xa000eca0) malloc: *** set a breakpoint in szone_error to debug Its not all backups that crashes, only some times. But the log is full of theese errors. Any ideas?
Mayoff
The LSI SCSI Card isn't supported but I am not sure if that is causing the crash or not. Only ATTO scsi cards are supported.
rhwalker
I can verify that the Apple Dual-Channel SCSI card (really a rebranded LSI Logic 22320) is junk. We got one with our build-to-order Xserve G5, never worked right, all problems disappeared when we replaced it with an ATTO UL4D.
