The message i received wast "6 execution errors" Someone said to me "try under "Reports > Operations Log" But i am not sure what that means. CallMeDave
I tried to restore a file from a backup set, checked what i needed, pressed the retrieve button and inserted the disk This is a good first step. Now start from the beginning again, and describe everything you're doing _exactly_. - What kind of disk? - What were the execution errors (Command+L will open the Operations Log and list them) - Is this machine (and any optical CD/DVD that might be in use) the same setup that was used to backup the file originally? - What is the full version of Retrospect? 6.1.xxx - What version of the RDU is loading (it's listed in the Operations Log too, each and every time Retrospect is launched). - If a CD/DVD drive is being used, what is the make and model? rhwalker
You still haven't provided enough information. (1) we don't know the type of media (DVD+R? DVD-R? single layer? double layer?). It matters. Some versions of RDU and Retrospect don't support some types of media. (2) As noted before, your version of Retrospect is very out of date (by over a year). Bugs are fixed with each release. Yes, you might not be able to fix this with the older version. The update is free. (3) As noted before, your RDU is very out of date (by a couple of years). Bugs are fixed with each release. Yes, you might not be able to fix this with the older version. The update is free. (4) As noted before, looks like your drive is dying. Try another drive. If a CD/DVD drive is being used, what is the make and model? It is internal on my mac 10.4.11 Sorry, "internal" is not a make and model of a drive. however, as noted above, from looking at your error log, it appears that you may have a MATSUSHITA / Panasonic DVD-R UJ-846. Apple System Profiler could tell you what drive you have, as could Retrospect's Configure > Devices. Good luck. We have tried to help you. Renee Kelt
I wasn't talking to you sir. I was responding to CallMeDave comments. Thank you very much.
Mayoff
Looks like Dave and Russ have asked about the exact type of media being used. This critical to giving you an accurate answer, based on known issues with some media types. Have you tried updating to the latest driver update and the latest version of Retrospect?
