Mayoff
Sorry, this is a very generic crash. I suggest contacting technical support directly for additional help.

wineshop
Dear Robin, I unistalled again HD CANCELLED ALL RETROSPECT FOLDERS restarted the computer reinstalled HD and this time backup worked!! Maybe the problem was due to the fact that the backup disk was full (even if Retrospect should cancel old backups making room for new ones, am I right?). Hope that when the backup disk will be full again the problem will not happen again ... regards Andrea Italy

wineshop
Dear Robin, unfortunately I still have a problem, today after the automatic backup, HD promped "in the last 7 backup there have been mistakes, click here" I clicked and discovered that all the restore points are marked with a yellow triangle which means that the backups have mistakes inside!! please help Andrea Italy
Mayoff
You need to click the log button for each restore point so you can see the errors being reported.
wineshop
Thanks Robin, the problem reported is always the same, there are 5 files (windows mail emails) where the verification process failed. I have cancelled them, hope this time backup will go through without problems. Andrea Italy
Peter123
Hi, I hope your backups are working fine now. Unfortunately, I still have problems when attempting a backup. I get a message that advises me that the backup was unsuccesful for the following reason: Catalog File out of sync with Backup Set "MICHELLE-PC". To repair it, use Tools>Repair Catalog>Update existing Catalog File. I've tried everthing to resolve it: - I've uninstalled and reinstalled Retrospect Express HD 2.0 - I've deleted RestorePoint.rbc - I've restored my PC back to a date a week earlier. Backups used to work fine until the last windows update. I'm coming to the conclusion that Retrospect Express HD 2.0 just isn't compatable with Vista - unless anyone has any other ideas? Mayoff
Some versions of 2.0 are NOT vista compatible. You need 2.0.214 or higher. Otherwise download 2.5 from our website.
Peter123
I've just removed version 2.0 from my PC, downloaded version 2.5 from your website as advised and installed it. Installation went fine, but the backup failed again for the same reasons as before. Could you just explain where I find the 'Tools>Repair Catalog>Update existing Catalog File' option as advised on the error message and I'll have a go at that. Mayoff
Deleting the .rbc file does the exact same thing. It is sounding like something is wrong with the backup data, causing a failed catalog rebuild.
Peter123
Thanks for your perseverence with me on this.. The data that I'm trying to backup is just basic stuff - word docs, pics etc. I'm successfully performing backups, to the same external network hard drive, of similar data from my other PC which is running windows XP I'm thinking that, as a last resort, to delete all of the folders/files on the external network hard drive that resulted from previous succesful backups from my Vista PC In doing this I'm attempting to remove any problems that may exist with the data on the hard drive and effectively starting again. Would you consider that this would be a way forward, or would you suggest an alternative?
