jrevans
I have been using Retrospect for >10 years now and have always had good luck with its hardware support, however after recently upgrading my personal backup server I have been having difficulty getting it to recognize my LiteOn LH-20A1L SATA DVD +/- RW Drive. After searching and searching, and looking through teh Retrospect supported hardware database I am starting to think that the Current version of Retrospect Professional (7.5.508/7.5.13.100) does not support SATA DVD drives. Is this correct? I am running on Vista 64-bit.

jrevans
I had looked at the hardware database. If you select 'Serial-ATA' as the interface and search you will find only a single DVD drive listed. It was after performing said search that I concluded the lack of SATA support for DVD Burners. eppinizer
I can tell you that I have a SATA DVD drive at my home, and it is recognized by retrospect. So, I can safely say that not ALL SATA DVD drives are actually unsupported. If your drive is not on the list however, it is technically unsupported. jsg1220
I have a LH-20A1S SATA drive on XP Pro and was able to configure it to work. If the configuration function doesn't work, looks like 64-bit is not supported. Vista 64-bit requires signed drivers and there isn't much support yet.
