kdm
I have a network with a desktop, notebook and a NAS. When Retrospect is inactive but in the system tray (of the desktop) it prevents the harddrives on the notebook and the NAS from sleeping (spinning down). Why is this? My set up: EMC Retrospect Express HD 2.0.214 Windows XP SP2, 1GB RAM
Mayoff
Express HD runs in the background and is probably does a regular check to see if the drive is available on the network.
kdm
Unfortunately, for me, this along with the GUI interface bug (see thread slow, slow, slow) makes the program unusable. I do a backup daily so I need a program that will run that daily backup without stopping hard drives spinning down for the rest of the day and night. The GUI interface bug makes me think there is a good chance I would not be able to implement anything other than a trivial restore.
