rcharg
Hello, I need to recover a mailbox from the past, and unfortunately the backup of individual mailboxes was not implemented during this time. Anyway, I have a working exchange 2003 server, but need to restore a backup of the exchange database from the past and wanted to find out if it was possible to restore to the recovery storage group container instead of the main storage group so that i can pull the data from and old mailbox. If not, what are my best options? I do not want to restore over my present working storage group? Thank you for your assistance.
Mayoff
At this time Retrospect does not support the recovery storage group. http://kb.dantz.com/article.asp?article=5202&p=2 http://kb.dantz.com/article.asp?article=7926&p=
rcharg
Thank you for your reply. But i wanted to clarify, I read in the retrospect 7.5 users guide that when restoring from an exchange 2003 server, that the source storage group to be restored will be restored to the RECOVERY storage group container and not the main storage group. Is this correct? This is what I would like for it to do, since my current storage group is still good, I just need a mailbox to be restored from a past backup. Thanks again for your time and assistance. Rob
Mayoff
Retrospect does NOT support the recovery storage group. All Restores of the 1st storage group back to the server will replace the 1st storage group. If you want mailboxes restored, then 1) Backup individual mailboxes and 2) use Restore>Mailboxes to restore them.

ugomena
Where does Retrospect recover the individual mailboxes to? Will it just restore items to where they were when it was originally backed up?
Mayoff
Data gets restored to a new folder in the mailbox you have selected as the destination.
