xmiinc
...Now I've got an internal 112D, which EMC lists as 'qualified' for Macs, but it *still* won't recognize +RW media. Done all the manual device config business repeatedly....to no avail. Basically, it passes all he h/w and media tests, but hangs on the write method...at one point, I let it go for 3+ hours on new Memorex media. It makes like its accessing the drive, but moving the mouse beachballs Retrospect, causing me to force-quit. Driver firmware (Pioneer) is 1.21, I'm on OSX 10.4.9, using Retro 6.1.126 with driver 6.1.1.101. I'm still backing up on my trusty 109D with the same config like nobody's business with +RW media. Why is the 112D playing hard to get? Any suggestions?
Mayoff
You should start by deleting any custom driver files you created, they will cause a conflict when Retro contains native support for a device. Delete any driver or device files found in library\preferences\Retrospect What RDU version are you using? 6.1.1.101 sounds really old.
xmiinc
Thanks, Mayoff...that appears to have been it: an old RDU. When I swapped it out for the 6.1.13.101, the drive magically appeared as a writable device...no config, no nuttin'. Whew, finally!
