hendrie2020
Hi. I'm trying to use Retrospect Express 4.3 to back up my Mac (G3 Blue and White running 9.2). The burner that I've been trying to use is an old external ZipCD USB writer from Iomega. When I plug the writer into the USB port I can see it on my desktop and I can see a blank disk on the desktop when I put it into the drive. But when I try to do a backup the software (Retrospect, I presume) is telling me that it can't find the media. Do I need other burning software to make this process work? In other words, do I need other burning software to format the blank disk before Retrospect will recognize the disk and save the computer information to it? Or should Retrospect be able to initialize and burn the disk without other software? Part of what makes this complicated is that the CD Writer from Iomega uses a different software to burn CDs when using OS 9.2 than what came with the original disk. So, if you tell me that I need that software on my machine to make the backup with Retrospect work, I'll have to purchase this other software that Iomega is saying works with OS 9.2 (it's called Charismac Discribe). Does anyone have any ideas about what might be going on and what I need to do to be able to use Retrospect successfully with my current hardware? natew
Hi Does the device show in configure->devices->device status in Retrospect? If so can you tell us what it says in there? I think the device is supported but you have to sort out some extensions issues to get it to work. Thanks Nate
