wacarrington
I have been backing up with Retrospect Express (w/Upgrade 4.3) for some time on both a 1 GB Jaz Drive and an external Firewire Hard Drive. I recently simulated the following hypothetical: I have "scrogged" my HD and decided to rebuild it from my latest backup. I boot from my Retrospect CD-ROM, since I can't boot from my HD, and on the screen I see the Retrospect installer window I am now stuck! My mouse is a USB version from LogiTech and has worked fine for backup use but now it doesn't light up or move the cursor in the window the CD brought up. How do I proceed with the rebuild of my Hard Disc from either of my backups? I seem to have a wonderful backup application but no way to use it to restore my Hard Disc! Help! Mayoff
Hello, The Retrospect CD does not contain Logitech Mouse Drivers. You may need to do the following: 1) Install the Mac OS (and mouse drivers) 2) Install Retrospect 3) Rename the Mac OS 9 or earlier system folder to "old System Folder" 4) Perform a Restore Entire Disk 5) Trash the "Old System Folder" 6) Restart 7) Rebuild the Desktop
wacarrington
Thanks, that sounds like a winner. Do I understand that the "old system folder" which I have named really contains the temporary OS that I installed as a first step in restoring and that I can trash it after I have rebuilt my HD during "Restore" since I now have my old OS back on my HD? Again, thank you - I was between a rock and a hard place there for a while! By the way, I like your picture!! Bill Carrington
