wacissa
Using Retro Express 7.5.387 after formatting my destination drive (WD external) from FAT32 to NTFS, I now am getting 53 errors, all in Docs and Settings ... File "C:\Documents and Settings\<my_name>\ntuser.dat": can't read, error -1020 (sharing violation) ... File "C:\Documents and Settings\<my_name>\AppData\Local\Application Data\": can't read security information, error -1017 (insufficient permissions) ... any idea how to corect this? Ashcan
Quote: This might help: http://kb.dantz.com/article.asp?article=9631&p=2 That's for posting this. I just noticed I was having this problem also. Oddly, looking back through logs, things seemed to be fine until October's MS Patch Tuesday. I only backup about once a week (that's all that I need to do), and just noticed the error. For me, I'm only getting the 1017 error. I've backed up and restored from one of thes backups and nothing is missing, probably because I backup with my own setup of a minimal system state, thus preventing any 1020 errors (at least for now). I'm guessing finding this problem and fixing it is not going to be easy...
wacissa
My next scheduled backup only got the 1017 errors.
wacissa
I should also point out that the error text says ... File "C:\Documents and Settings\...\": can't read security information, error -1017 (insufficient permissions) this is different from the knowledge base discussion centered around VSS. Mayoff
You can ignore errors that mention security info. It just means the NTFS permission could not be copied for some reason. The file itself should be on the backup though.
