Hitachi Firewire CD-RW - Compatible?

Recommended Posts

Using Retrospect 5.0.201 with OSX on iMac DV, 512 Megs of Ram. CD-RW burner from APS Tech. Retrospect sees unit, lists it as Hitachi Hl-dt-st CD-RW GCE-8160B (MM3) Firewire. Making backup set, it will go through compiling backup info, ask for first disk, show "Loading" when disk is inserted, begins to write, but after about five seconds stops and ejects disk with "Trouble Writing Media - Error 100 (device rejected command)" message. Have tried various CD-RW disks, same result. Hardware compatibility page on your web site shows no results for either APS Tech or Hitachi. So I'm sorry, but I have to ask this question here...is this device compatible with Retrospect? If not, will it EVER be?

This drive is not yet supported for use with Retrospect. For a list of currently qualified devices, please see:

Dantz goes through a rigorous qualification process with every drive we test. This means that not every drive will be qualified and we can never guarantee that a particular device will be supported. Some drives do not get qualified ever, and some take 6 months to a year to get support. We have no way of telling if this drive will be supported or not at this moment.

We add device support often though, so do check back with our Hardware Compatibility list.
