popak
Hello, This is my setup: Retrospect Server (6.1.126): running on PowerMac G5 Retrospect Client (6.1.130): the new Intel Xserve. It has two volumes, the startup volume and File sharing volume (using AFP). the rest of the clients are PPC. When retrospect runs the first volume (startup) has been backed up with no problem, but the second volume (AFP) can not and give us the error -519. this is the only machine and volumes that give me this error. Anybody has any idea what is wrong? thank you, -Popak
CallMeDave
- If you define a small folder on the problem volume as a Subvolume, and use that as a Source, do you get the error? - Are the two volumes on different physical hard drives? popak
- If you define a small folder on the problem volume as a Subvolume, and use that as a Source, do you get the error? I can not define small folder as when I try to do that, it gives me error 519 as well. - Are the two volumes on different physical hard drives? Yes and the AFP volume is mirrored as well. -Popak

CallMeDave
Quote: This is the log that I recieve from client side and It was in /Library?logs/CrashReporter/retropds.23.crash.log Only the first few lines of that are needed, but you've confirmed that the Retrospect OS X Client is crashing on your Intel Mac. I believe that since pitond is running under Rosetta, that there's not too much information available for debugging (but I could be way wrong about that). I don't have an Intel OS X Server machine to poke at, so I can't try any tests that come to mind. If you can stop services on the server and re-test, that might yield something helpful. It might very well be a defect with the old pitond and the new hardware/OS. I'd suggest at this point a call into EMCInsignia might be your best course of action. rikgoon
I am having the same problem at a client. I can Back up The Start Up Mirror drive but the XRAID through the fiber Card cannot be backed up. It looks as though any of the attached volumes cannot be Backed Up On This intel Xserve. This is an intel XServe with Retrospect 6.1.26 with client 6.1.
rikgoon
I am able to Back Up The volumes when I mount the intel XServe volume Onto the Retrospect Backup Machine. And It's faster!!!!!!

markleedsuk
I have Desktop 6.1 on an iMac and the latest client on my MBP. I used to use the PC version 7.5. From the PC version it backed the MBP up perfectly, my PC died so I switched to an iMac. Now whenever it tried to access the MBP I get the retropds.23 crash (same as shown above). I went into the packahe (retrospect client/contents/resources and did: sudo rm retropds.23 sudo cp retropds.22 retropds.23 and it seems to work now!! (I manually tried running .23 from terminal and got the bus error and just out of desperation tried .22 - it worked so I wondered if I could make it work by copying it to .23). Not a very good solution and no idea what is going on - or the difference between .22 and .23, but it might be worth a try?
markleedsuk
Forget that, it worked once then the next time it replaces the file for me and of course fails again. Maybe if they ever get an intel version ready that will help.
Mayoff
http://kb.dantz.com/article.asp?article=9576&p=2 Once you install this version, make sure you change the new ACLs option in the preferences.
