geohei
Hi. Retrospect offers a wide range of possibilities to backup files. What's the "best" way to sync 2 folders on a daily basis? Thanks,
jelenko
Duplicate with the option to 'replace all contents'. And, of course, set up a script to run when you want it to. HTH
Gruenwald
If I decide to duplicate the 2 folders as you suggest, how do I choose the 2 folders as the source (i.e. if the only folders I want to duplicate on Drive-D are Folder-A and Folder-B, do I merely define only those 2 folders under Drive-D and then select Drive-D as my source)? Thanks!
AmyJ
A Duplicate is a 1-to-1 operation. You will need to set up two scripts - one for each source. Each script will need to have a different destination. You could, for example, define two new folders as the destinations for the scripts. Script 1: Duplicate "Folder A" to "Copy of Folder A" Script 2: Duplicate "Folder B" to "Copy of Folder B"
Gruenwald
If, as you suggest, I must have 2 scripts, but I want them both to run each night, what will occur if the first script doesn't complete it's run before the second script is scheduled to start? AmyJ
It will run when the first script is complete. In fact, you can schedule them both to run at the same time and then they will run one after the other.
Gruenwald
I didn't know that. You've been a great help! Thanks!
nekr0phage
Keep in mind that duplicate is a one way process, it does not 'sync'.
