rallychk Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 Recently upgraded our server where Retrospect is resident and just physically moved the previous hard-drive over (so no need to restore). When I go to recycle the CDs used for backup (on old machine), the system tells me that the CDs are write protected. They can be read in a different machine, and I have even erased all the data on one and tried it on the server - still the same message. What does this mean and how can I "unprotect" them? Thanks in advance, Benedikte
natew Posted June 21, 2004 Report Posted June 21, 2004 Hi It sounds like Retrospect may not support the drive. What drive is it? It will show in the Retrospect configure->devices->environment window. Thanks Nate
rallychk Posted June 22, 2004 Author Report Posted June 22, 2004 Thanks for the response. The CD is supported. It is a TEAC CD-RW, Teac CD-W54E. I have recorded new CDs using it, just cannot reuse all the (not-so) old ones. Benedikte
