ktaylor
i'm using retrospect 5.6.127 server for windows, on a win2000 server. i've got 40 pc clients which work fine. i'm trying to connect to a group of macs running OS8 & 9, but i'm getting "scanning incomplete, error -1017 (insufficient permissions)" i've upgraded the clients on the macs to 5.0.198, but still no luck. the permissions for the retrospect launcer service are set to local system. any help much appreciated, keith
lv2ski
Set the launcher service to Admin....see if that changes anything. 5.6x will not work with 5.0 clients. You need to have 4.3 clients.
ktaylor
i originally had mac 4.3 clients installed and got the same errors, i've also tried playing around with the launcher service, admin etc. to no avail. keith
lv2ski
Something must be strainge in the configuration. Can you describe the setup of the MACs a bit more?
ktaylor
unfortunately i don't really know much about macs. as far as i'm aware there is nothing strange about the config. keith
lv2ski
Are the MACs running multiuser mode? This happens on EVERY Mac client right? Turn off all Virus/Protection software. This is very strange.
ktaylor
melissa, thanks for your posts, i seem to have got to the bottom of the problem, the macs are indeed multi user machines. when users are logged out the pc server is able to complete a scan and hence backup fine, i'll run a full test this evening, thanks :>> keith
