Error 205 w/ Zip Disks (couldn't erase disk)

I'm running Ret Express 5.0.167 on Mac OSX. I've tried a Zip Disk (100) and Zip 250 - in every USB port I've got (a newer iMac). The USB ports *work* because I print and do other things with them. But every time I try to do a backup, RE crashes at the beginning when trying to erase the disk. Also: disk doctor is able to erase the disks fine (so not a problem with the media). The Zip 250 is even brand new- I bought it because I thought maybe the problem was the old Zip drive... any thoughts on this?

What version of OSX is this?

You should start by downloading Retrospect Express 5.0.238 from the Retrospect updates page.
