Pomme-homme
I have a G4 PowerMac DP 450 running 10.3.4 and a LaCie external FW HD. The latter is partitioned with one partition for data backups and the other for a bootable duplicate of my internal HD. I run an automatic duplicate of all files except caches weekly and the bootable partition shows up in System Preferences>Startup Volumes. However, when I try to start from the FWHD, I get the gray apple screen without the pinwheel cursor. What am I doing wrong?
natew
Hi Can you download the trial version of Retrospect 6.0 and see if you have better results? Pardon an obvious question but does the drive itself support booting? (some FW disks do not) Thanks Nate
Pomme-homme
I tried erasing my bootable drive (LaCie d2 FW) which does support booting and re-duplicated my HD with everything except cache files. Same result: when booting from LaCie I get the gray apple, no spinning wheel and have to hard restart. So still no joy.
Pomme-homme
Sorry: I am using version 6.0.
natew
Hmmmmm, This is strange. Try copying the drive with carbon copy cloner. Is it bootable at that point? Thanks Nate
