jsholle
I backed up my hard drive to zip discs. The hard drive crashed, and when I tried to restore from the zips, the zip drive was bad. Some of the discs could not be read. I was able to rebuild a partial catalog. Should I try to restore from this, or wait until my replacement zip drive arrives and "forget" the restored catalog and try to rebuild it again in hopes of recovering more data? Could I save the partial catalog (say, to a floppy)and then reuse it if the second catalog restore doesn't work? Your help would be appreciated. lv2ski
Save the partial as it will save you time when you go to update the partial catalog. Or you can throw it away and start all over next time. I do not know what you want to do.
jsholle
Thank you for your reply. I am trying to restore my entire hard drive from a backup set, but I am not sure whether some members of the set are bad or maybe the device is bad...So I was able to rebuild a catalog, but it was missing some files. My plan is to save this partially rebuilt catalog, then "forget" it and try starting all over to rebuild again when I have a different drive to try the media in... does that sound right? lv2ski
I think that sounds fine.
