natew
Hi It means there is a problem with the data on the tape. That is bad. Does this error happen on all tapes with all backup sets or just some of them? Thanks Nate
kinger460
it started showing up when i created a new backup set with brand new tapes. first, i got this error: Trouble writing: “1-G5 Backup C” (847249408), error 206 (drive reported a failure: dirty heads, bad media, etc.). Additional error information for device "Ecrix VXA DC" [0:1], Sense > f0 00 03 00 00 00 06 0a 00 00 00 00 0c 00 00 00 00 00 (ECRIX |VXA-1 |1101) so, i cleaned the heads and attempted another backup to the new set. that is when i received the "Backup set format inconsistency (7 at 0)" error. so, you think its a bad tape, eh? i'll just trash it and start anew. thanks. natew
Hi 100~ and 200~ errors are reported by the device to Retrospect. Retrospect then passes the information on to you. That means the hardware is detecting a problem. The first place to start is new tapes. Make sure your tape drive firmware is up to date too. Thanks nate
