johnwmreed
My Retrospect 12 backup is stored on a NAS drive. My backup set member properties "Location for backup data folder:" is: \\ASUSMYCLOUD\ASUSBackup\Retrospect\BSA\1-BSA When enter this as the UNC path when I boot the Disaster Recovery CD I get the message: "error" If I enter the above path in the advanced box for member properties in my Retrospect backup set it seems to work! What am I doing wrong?
Lennart_T
I guess your disaster recovery CD does not have the necessary network drivers (or network card drivers) to access anything on your network.
johnwmreed
So, to fix should I try and build the drivers into the CD (not sure I can), or load them during the recovery process?
Lennart_T
I'm not sure how to proceed. I always use USB drives. You can also try to (using another computer, perhaps) download the backup data from the NAS to a USB drive. Then use the USB drive for the restore. mbennett
I've also had network driver problems, and as Lennart_T says, if you can figure out the right drivers then loading them from a USB device during the process is the only good option if you've already burned a recovery disk, but it absolutely will work. The problem is getting the correct drivers and since nothing ever comes with newer PCs you'll have to dig around on-line to find them. This is the official recovery KB article. There's a separate article if you're using a Mac. https://www.retrospect.com/en/documentation/user_guide/win/disaster_recovery
johnwmreed
I Loaded the network driver from my motherboard disk during Disaster Recovery, and it still didn't work.
johnwmreed
I started from scratch and built two Disaster Recovery bootables, with the motherboard NAS driver built in - one on a DVD drive and the other on a USB drive. I tried to recover my Retrospect backup and failed with both. The only thing I can think of is something is wrong with my UNC: \\ASUSMYCLOUD\ASUSBackup\Retrospect\BSA\1-BSA My backup data is too big to put on a USB drive, to try that suggestion. So try stripping back one level at a time until it works: \ASUSMYCLOUD\ASUSBackup\Retrospect\BSA \ASUSMYCLOUD\ASUSBackup\Retrospect \ASUSMYCLOUD\ASUSBackup
johnwmreed
I tried all three, and none worked! All I can say is I now use Macrium Reflect for my backup and restore. It works like a charm!
