JeffLambert
I'm looking to purchase a LaCie Ethernet drive and want to know if it's backable by retrospect 6 server on a mac OS 10.3.5 machine with a AIT 3 Tape drive. Anyone using those? How does it work in a Mac only environment? Since the drive runs Windows XP embedded, I want to know if the windows retrospect client can be install on it so I don't have to mount the drive on a separate machine to back it up. TIA Jeff
natew
Hi I would guess you can back it up via the client but that would wreck all of your Mac resource forks. Probably best to back it up via file sharing. Thanks Nate
CallMeDave
The LaCie ethernet drive does support AFP, so you could mount it on the machine running Retrospect and access the files that way. Since the box isn't running a full blown version of Windows, you probably can't install the Dantz Retrospect Windows Client on it (unless you can). But if NateW is right, even if you could it might lead to problems.
