ASIP Client error

Metaflex

Recommended Posts

We have several ASIP 6.3 Server which are back Uped from a Retrospect 5 Backup server. We also backup serveral normal mac-clients who are shutdown after the backup procedure. The problem is with our main Server. After 1 backup it is no longer visible as client in the network. Only after a reboot.

We use a standard backup-script to backup our network (a 5 day recycle-procedure), as we allways have under retrospect 4.3

Please let us know how to solve the problem.

Is it visible through file-sharing? Or does it drop off the network completely?

Does this happen on all your ASIP servers?

How ofter are you restarting them?

Here's a Knowledgebase article that details some of the issues that ASIP servers are presenting with Retrospect:

The problem only occurs on our AWS 8600/200 running OS 9.1 & ASIP 6.3. Retrospect client 5 is running in the background. It is backuped via the network from a G3 running OS 9.22 and retrospect 5. We have a standard backup script running every evening to backup the entire network. Should this be a backup server?? or should i lock out server-volumes while running the backup script???

All other client-computers report no problems, just this one.

Locking out users can certainly help you pinpoint what's happening. Having a Backup script vs. a Backup Server script should not make a difference.

More details would be helpful as well, such as the answers to the questions from the previous post.

Thanks.
