PitterPat
I'm trying to move to a different PC. The old one had RS 7.6 and the new has RS 7.7 I found info on moving to a new pc but can't find anything on version conversion. I moved the catalog files and config76.dat BUT I have no backup jobs on the new pc and no clients. Something's not right. P.S. All my jobs are proactive backups if that matters. Is there a way to do the conversion? Thanks & Happy New Year, PP
Scillonian
I think the only way to convert the file is to install 7.6, move the appropriate files to replicate the old system then install 7.7 over 7.6.
PitterPat
Thanks, I guess I'll have to bite the bullet. What a pain. PP
Lennart_T
Provided you put the config76.dat file in the correct folder, Retrospect 7.7 will pick it up and read it (convert it) automatically. Did you also change Windows version? Then the path to the config files may have changed. There should be a chapter in the manual about moving Retrospect to a new computer (for more details). Scillonian
If the old backup server is still operational, and you have access to the 7.7 product key, you could upgrade Retrospect to 7.7 to convert the necessary files then transfer them to the new backup server.
