catalog file growing too fast

Recommended Posts

First time here

Just recently upgraded from 4.3-6.0 (macOsx)

initial testings have been ok,just disappointing.

I thought the backup size was going to be addressed--TB limit--(tape backup)

TB issue was taking care of, now my catalogs are growing at a rate of 100mb for every 10gb

I backup....so,by the time I backup 1 Tb,my catalog will be about a 1Gb...

2Tb and I won't be able to backup my catalog..

What a fix! Getting ready to demand my money back and stay with 4.3

Anyone having different results??

any suggestions?

Why? Is there something that keeps you from making a copy or backup of a 2 Gig file? I'd think that a lot of video editors would be concerned to hear about this...

Am I missing something?

  • 2 weeks later...

To my understanding,Retrospect cannot backup any file over 2GB-- I'll double check that anyway

Also larger files do get damaged easier

I usually backup my catalogs to tape, then copy them to cd's

constantly have to send backup sets off site- easier with the catalog on cd

I would prefer not having to use DvD's yet.

Previously, (ver 4.3) my catalogs only grew to around 150mb

Hoped that it would of stayed the same( Never keep the catalogs compressed btw )
