Mayoff
can you browse the databases from configure>volumes? What authentication methods are being used? Any errors in the event logs of the sql server?
11d38821-0681-4dce-9c4d-b03ab8ed2f3f
wow sorry for the late reply! >can you browse the databases from configure>volumes? yes > What authentication methods are being used? SQL auth >Any errors in the event logs of the sql server? * no, the errors are not even logged in the SQL logs... quite strange. i get a success log for the DB before and the DB after it, but nothing for the one that fails.. * nothing showing in system/application logs of sql server either... 11d38821-0681-4dce-9c4d-b03ab8ed2f3f
think i just found what it could be: http://kb.dantz.com/display/2n/kb/article.asp?aid=9626&n=6&s= have checked and sure enough the hostname of this machine does differ from what's in the registry under: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Machines\OriginalMachineName will post back when i've had a chance to change this setting... if this does work out to be the solution,.. only question is why it sometimes backs up successfully..
