Retrospect 6.5 Major Issue

I run Retrospect 6.5, and we have, in the past, cleared everything out and started fresh. Some time in the past week while I was out of town, an error occured. Now, when we try to load Retrospect, it gives us a "You are attempting to upgrade Retrospect" message and asks for a confirmation code, but there is no way for us to access the program further than that. Furthermore, the last good backup listed at the bottom of the program window is from some time in 2004. This is a major issue and I would like VERY MUCH to not have to start fresh and lose 2 years worth of backup data. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
