mylan18646 Posted August 21, 2006 Report Share Posted August 21, 2006 I finally found this forum and hope you can help. I have a Maxtor Ext 5000 LE and it has been working fairly well until now. Nothing works now - it stops me from starting my computer and it says the label is dirty. I finally managed to get into it and then it says unable to access the drive (F) and volume does not contain a recognized file system. I would just like to wipe it clean but cannot do that either. Tried Wipe It with Noron to no avail and it says F cannot be opened. I tried the repair but it just went on for hours and hours. I also tried the one button but nothing happened either. I have WIndows XP and Express 5.6.132 with Retrospect. I really need to repair this unit as I have have back ups.... Please help! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
nekr0phage Posted August 21, 2006 Report Share Posted August 21, 2006 Hi Terri, It sounds like there is something wrong with the drive itself, in which case there isn't a whole lot we'd be able to do for you (this is the forum for Retrospect, not Maxtor).
