pcsmith
I'm doing a backup with hardware compression and am getting ~50MB/min. HP advertises 7.2TB/hour compressed which is ~120MB/min. I realize it's probably under optimal conditions, but I wanted to see if maybe there was something in Retrospect I could do to speed it up a bit. Most of the files are in the 4-7MB range. natew
Hi What operating system and SCSI card are you using? Are the speeds higher if you turn off compression? Tape manufacturers are notorious for touting the best case scenario. Real world results are much lower. Retrospect sends data to the drive as fast as the tape drive will allow. It sends more as soon as each write is complete. Nate
