ehalbe
Using Retro Workgroup for Windows 5.6 on a Win98 machine with clients on 9 Macs and 6 PCs. If I duplicate a volume from a Mac and then restore it to a Mac I lose all my file type and creator information. This causes the Mac to not recognize what types of files they are. They all have a generic icon and must be launched individually by surmising what the original app was. This is a time consuming p-i-t-a. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated. TIA, Ed
lv2ski
You said - if you duplicate from a MAC to a MAC but your using the Windows product. Are you duplicating one client to another?
ehalbe
Melissa- Clarification to my statement: If I duplicate a volume from a Mac (to my WIN 98 hard drive) and then restore it to a Mac I lose all my file type and creator information. Sorry for the misinformation. Regards, Ed
lv2ski
This is correct. That is because it is a MAC file being saved to a Windows machine. You lose the resource fork then. This cannot be done. BUT you can BACKUP this file to the Windows machine...and then RESTORE it. Just not duplication.
