cgxeaglepress
I have been using a Plextor PX-716UF DVD burner with Toast and Apple OSX burning software with no problems. When I try to use the drive for Retrospect archiving, I find that there is no support for that drive. Does anyone have a firmware fix or driver fix so I can use this drive for archiving to DVD? My boss is not going to buy another drive for us to use. HELP!!! Dantz/EMC's website is no help. All is tells me is that they don't support the drive. WEAK!!! Thanks, Webb out
nekr0phage
Hi, The Plextor PX-716UF is supported with Retrospect 6.0 and the 6.6.101 driver update. There does not appear to be a minimum firmware requirement. Please ensure you are using Retrospect 6.0 or 6.1 with the current driver update. http://emcinsignia.com/supportupdates/updates/
cgxeaglepress
I did look on the upgrade page and it only lists the 6.1.5.102 driver update. Where do I need to look to find the new driver? Is the driver you speak of for OSX (Mac G4)? We don't use IBM for archiving. Thanks, EP
nekr0phage
Hi, The 6.1.5.102 driver update is what I was referring to. You did not make any mention of it in your initial post, so I did not know you already had it in place. You should ensure that you do not have any customer drivers causing the drive to malfunction. Check in /Library/Preferences/Retrospect for any files labeled "device01," "device02," etc. If you find any of these files, delete them and then try running a backup to a new backup set.
