HFTobeason
Retrospect won't configure a DVD+RW on my iMac Duo - System Profiler reports the drive as: Model: MATSHITADVD-R UJ-846 Revision: FB2U Serial Number: Detachable Drive: No Protocol: ATAPI Unit Number: 0 Socket Type: Internal Retrospect chugs away for quite a while, then spits the disc out with an error. Is DVD+RW incompatible? Or is the drive incompatible? I can't find any info on this particular drive in the Dantz database. TIA for any help. nekr0phage
Hi, The UJ-846 is listed as a supported device for the 6.1.2.102 driver update for Retrospect 6.1. Please make sure that you're up to date with the RDU and using Retrospect 6.1, not 6.0. With a supported device, there should be no need to use custom configuration. After you double check your build/RDU, remove the "devicexx" files from /Library/Preferences/Retrospect to be sure you're using the supported driver. If you are up to date, remove the "devicexx" files, and then try a different type of media.
HFTobeason
Thank you. That did it. I had the up-to-date software/drivers, but was stumped by the "configure" step.
jtkohl
I've got a newer firmware drive, and Retrospect 6.1.126 device is: MATSHITADVD-R UJ-846: Model: MATSHITADVD-R UJ-846 Revision: FM3J Serial Number: Detachable Drive: No Protocol: ATAPI Unit Number: 0 Socket Type: Internal MacOS 10.4.7 When I try to configure the drive with 8x Memorex DVD+RW blanks, it keeps spitting out the disc and saying "please insert a CD/DVD" I tried the suggestion of deleting all the device??.rdi files, no help. :=(
nekr0phage
John, Make sure you have the 6.1.2.102 driver update, and do not configure the drive. This drive should work without prompting for configuration.
rhwalker
Quote: John, Make sure you have the 6.1.2.102 driver update ? Current RDU is 6.1.7.101. Has the current RDU been depricated? Retrospect updates
nekr0phage
Hi Russ, No, it hasn't. 6.1.2.102 is the minimum required driver update for this device. I should have added an "or higher" to the end of that sentence.
