Guest
I am running gfs with retrospect, seems I have to manually erase a tape, then the backup will run. The jobs are set to recycle. User messed up rotation is what caused problems. Is there a way to erase the tape and then do the backup ?
lv2ski
You can erase the tape via Configure/Devices then higlight the tape and click the little Eraser at the top. This will erase the tape. Is that what you wanted? (It sounded like you were already doing this)....

lv2ski
Recycle backup is the feature that erases media. It erases the media and then rebacks up everything.
Guest
do you have an idea as to why when the media is set to recycle I have to manually erase prior to a job starting ?? scenario is job will hang until I manual erase and then it starts ?? lv2ski
If you do not have the exact tape, disk etc in the drive that Retrospect expects to erase then you will have to manually erase. Does Retrospect tell you it is looking for a different one?
