Guest
I have backed up my HD using RS express 6.5 and burned a " recovery" disc onto a CD.. When I tried to check the disk by booting to the CD drive I got an error message " Line 199 of the inf file \i386\txtsetup.sif is invalid setup cannot continue" I tried burning two CDs and was using the Windows XP pro OEM disk that came with my Dell Dimension 9100.. It uses RAID with 2 250 gig Striped HDs... ANy ideas?? Mike Drinnan
natew
Hi Does the OEM install disk include XP Service Pack2? If you are running service pack2 the CD you use to create the disaster recovery disk must also include service pack2. You really don't need a disaster recovery disk anyway. If the computer crashes use your dell disks to get up and running again, install Retrospect and do a restore from there. Nate
Guest
Sorry I have been away for the weekend... Yes the Dell Windows XP disc was with Service pack II Thanks for your advice about using the dell restore discs but it is a little annoying that the " disaster" disc does not seem to work!! natew
Hi Dell customizes the Windows setup files. As a result the Disaster Recovery disc creation fails. Thanks nate
