mlts22
I'm guessing this goes into general use, as it applies to most products. How long will Retrospect versions keep backwards compatibility with previous versions? For example, will say Retrospect 8 be able to still read DVDs made by Retrospect 6? I got asked by a client of mine (who I'm trying to pursade to go Retrospect, as his idea of backups for his business is praying his computer doesn't fail) about this, as he wants to archive for indefinite means various items that need to be stored for up to ten years. Thanks in advance for help.
natew
Hi All Windows versions are read only backwards compatible with all windows backup sets. Mac backwards dompatibility goes back to Retrsopect version 4. Backwards compatibility is a huge priority at EMC Dantz. Rest assured you will be able to restore the old data 10 years from now. Thanks Nate
mlts22
That is much appreciated, and I thought as much, but wanted to make sure as much before telling the guy that if he archives data, subsequent versions of Retrospect will be able to read it. Thank you very much for the prompt response. (Edited for a bit more clarity.)
