joek7
Hi, I am puzzled about one aspect of the Retrospect backup software operation: The documentation says that when the allocated space for restore points is used up, earlier restore points are deleted. My mental picture of the restore points is that the first restore point is a complete backup, and then subsequently only the differences since the last backup are saved. This being the case, doesn't Retrospect need to keep all its backups (restore points), all the way back to the first? Regards, Joe

joek7
Thanks very much for the reference. Exactly what I was looking for. Follow-up question: considering how long grooming takes, is it ever advisable/possible? to start a new series of backups so that the software doesn't have to go back and process years worth of snapshots and restore points? natew
Hi Sure. It really boils down to how much data you want to keep and how long you want it. Thanks Nate
