aerobott
Anyone use the Sony DRU-810A DVD +- Everything burner? Does it work with RS 7? Thanks. AB
Penmaster
I tried using it with version 7.5 and I got an error -206 - dirty heads ... bad media. I called tech support and they say to use one of the supported drives. I returned it to the store. Unfortunately most of the supported DVD RW ATAPI drives are too old and unavailable to buy anywhere. The way I see it is you have to hang onto the drive until they catch up with it and maybe it will be supported in the future because when it does get published as a supported drive it probably won't be available anymore to purchase. RMinNJ
Has anyone tried to use this drive with Retrospect 7.0 ??? I see it getting rave reviews on Amazon and is quite cheap. I see the DRU-700 in the supported list...is the DRU-810A that different?? Anyone from EMC/Retrospect here to comment? If I want to use Retrospect I need to buy an older DVD burner model on the list ??? What model DVD burner should I get to use with Retrospect AND may come with some up to date Nero software?? natew
Hi An older drive may be your only option if you plan on staying with Retrospect 7.0. Although the last driver update for 7.0 has support for a bunch of Plextor drives http://kb.dantz.com/article.asp?article=7947&p=2 A couple of new Plextor drives were supported in the latest update for Retrospect 7.5. http://kb.dantz.com/article.asp?article=9496&p=2 Thanks Nate
RMinNJ
Nate, Thanks...after searching the forums and the RDU updates I'm going to try an NEC 7550A. I had mentioned the Sony 810A because it was on sale at Amazon and the reviews there were good. I do not need the latest and greatest but did not want to buy something real old.
