fredstar Posted June 21, 2005 Report Share Posted June 21, 2005 Just helping a mate out with using an ext maxtor hd to back up his data. Its a 250Gig ext hd connected via USB to a win xp pro pc. One of these: http://www.maxtor.com/portal/site/M...ire%20and%20USB It used to back up using Dantz® Restrospect® Express HD (the s/ware it came with) successfully. Now he is getting the following errors: Can't compress Catalog File for Backup Set RestorePoint2, error -641 (chunk checksum didn't match) Can't compress Catalog File for Backup Set RestorePoint2, error -641 (chunk checksum didn't match) 20/06/2005 4:59:26 PM: 2 execution errors I have tried another USB port when I reinstalled the driver and s/ware with no luck. USB ports work fine as one is powering an adsl modem. We are going to try the ext hd on a laptop and see what happens. Any one else seen this before? natew Posted June 23, 2005 Report Share Posted June 23, 2005 Hi If the problem also occurs on the other machine chances are there is a problem with the disk cache.
