Replaced HP DLT Drive and now DLT tapes are seen as AIT tapes

Recommended Posts

Yelp! Using version 5.1 of Retrospect with most recent device drivers. Running on OS 9.2 on an old 9600/233 tower. Everything was fine [for years] until the drive failed and was replaced by HP under warranty. Now it is seeing Maxell 40/80 DLT tapes as SAIT tapes and giving errors about the media type being 'too different' to add to existing storage sets.

Although I can retrive files from previous backup media it will not write any more.

Anyone come across this before?

Does the new drive have write compatibility with your old tapes? Some newer tape drives can read old tapes but they cannot write to them.
