Jarth2
We have a client that has an 36/72GB autoloader with 2 cartridges of 6 tapes (the 6th tape is a cleaning cart). I’ve been going round and round on how to setup the scheme where they will switch the cartridges out on the last Friday of the month and give them daily backup. There data is about 4GB in size and changed data is about 200MB a day. If anyone has any ideas please help. Thanks in advance. Matt
natew
Hi Once a month tape changes are a problem because they often get forgotten. Is changing the catridge every Friday a possibility? This would make for a much smoother rotation in Retrospect. Otherwise they will have to make some changes to the Retrospect settings every time they change cartridges. What version of Retrospect do you have? Thanks Nate
Jarth2
We were attempting to come up with a scheme to allow a complete year worth of backup on the 10 tapes (2 cartridges) with a cartridge exchange the last Friday of every month. That doesn't appear to be possible and so we have abandoned the idea. We are working on another idea we believe will work.
