wreeve
I would like to convert my W2KPro main (c:) hard drive from FAT32 to NTFS. (1) Will I be able to use my existing Retrospect backups? (2) Will I have any problems doing the conversion and then restoring if something goes wrong? (3) Will I have to make a new rescue/recovery disk? natew
Hi You can use your same backups but Retrospect will try to backup all of the files again. The format conversion changes the file size on disk. You can always restore what you have already backed up to any disk. Its probably a good idea to make a new DR disk but not entirely necessary. Thanks Nate

Thanks Nate format conversion does not change a file's size. it might change the cluster factor used to record the file, but that does not change the content of the file. the ONLY reason any proper backup program would have to re-backup the files would be due to the ADDITIONAL file attributes. actual file size does not change, only the representation on the drive. wreeve
Thanks for your comments. Have you ever tried this (NTFS conversion and then restore)?
