Retrospect 7 trial hanging on startup

Just downloaded the v7 trial. I'd like to buy the software, but can't get the trial to start in order to take a look. After running the program, I get the main Retrospect screen with "Ready" on the status bar at the bottom, then it changes to "Starting". Then it hangs. The menus never turn from grey to black. I have to end task.

 

I have everything disabled (NAV, Spy Sweeper, etc.). I tried re-downloading the installer and uninstalling/reinstalling.

 

Any suggestions?

FYI. Exactly same thing happened when I tried the 7.0 trial.

 

After seeing several other issues reported with 7.0, I realized I was trying to break my rule about not being the first to put new software in 'production'. Just not worth the time.

 

I'm waiting for the first 'service pack' - just like with new version of Windows.
