willfurby
I am using Retrospect Multi-Server 6.5 for Windows. It is running on Windows 2003 Server. I am backing up to a USB external hard drive, and it works great. However, once a week I have scheduled a "Duplicate" job to duplicate the backup drive to another USB external hard drive. The problem is that is will not duplicate the Retrospect folder on the backup drive; even if I choose "all files." If I manually choose the files, the Retrospect folder shows up; but, I cannot select it or see any subfolders/files. Is there any reason I am not able to duplicate the Retrospect folder. powermeck
If my memory serves me correctly, directories bearing the name 'Retrospect' were excluded from backing them up on purpose, in order to avoid backing up a directory that is being written to at the same time. This can be quite a pitfall when you first back up to disk, then to tape, or as in your case to a duplicate disk - those directories will never make it. A while ago natew posted a workaround for this, but I cannot find it at the moment.
natew
Hi You need to define the Retrospect folder as a subvolume. When you do this you won't be able to select subvolumes within the Retrospect folder but the Retrospect older itself will be duplicated. willfurby
Thanks for the help with this. However, the best solutions I could come up with was to use the Transfer backup. Will
