morseth
Hi All: We have a new server on our network that needs to be backed up. This server runs software that uses Sybase to store database info, and I need to back this data up to our Retrospect 6.5 server. Can this data be safely backed up using the "Open File" backup method, or do additional steps need to be taken on the client end (in Sybase) before the Retrospect backup takes place? Thanks! natew
Hi Open file backup can backup any open file on your disk including databases. You should be fine. I would however consult the Sybase manuals for disaster recovery/restore procedures. It may make more sense to export a flat copy of the database to a file and then back up that file every day.
