Recycle Backups

Is there a way that you can force a recycle backup to happen every night, regardless of the media, without prompting?

 

I want a job that will simply backup all data selected to the tape that is in the drive.

 

I have no need to do an incremental backup, as I am only backing up 2Gb of data to a DDS4 tape drive, so I have room to spare.

 

Essentially, I want to be able to do what I would do under NTBACKUP by using the /UM switch.

Just goes to show that you should THOUROUGHLY read a forum before posting.

 

I thought I had, but obviously had not.

I understand the drawbacks as pointed out by Nate, but still want to test the implementation of this to see if it works for my needs - Nate can you fill us in on how to do it?

Hi

 

Create 1 backup set for all your scripts.

Set them for recycles every night.

Set the automatically reuse prenamed media preference

Budget a lot of time for restores...
